Daycare in the country.
Minutes from the city.

When you go on vacation, your dog takes a break in the country — fresh air, open meadows, small playgroups, and a nap under a big Oregon sky.

Drop-offs & pick-ups, solved

The hardest part of daycare shouldn't be the drive

Mornings are already a sprint — leash on, crate loaded, a cross-town detour in traffic, a guilty goodbye at the door, then the race back before closing time. If the drive is the thing standing between your dog and their best day, we'll come to you.

The school bus, for dogs. Choose pick-up and the Penny & Pals bus (or one of our drivers) collects your pup on the morning route — like school, but with more tail wags.

No closing-time scramble. We bring them home at day's end — no leaving work early, no traffic math.

Easy either way. Book online in seconds — swing by yourself or ride the bus. Free meet & greet for new pups.

Why temperament, not just size

Good play is matched play

Dogs don't all play the same game — wrestlers, chasers, and gentle wanderers each speak a different body language. When energy levels clash, play tips into stress: over-arousal, adrenaline, scuffles. Matching groups by temperament keeps every dog in play that feels safe, so they come home happily tired — not stressed-out exhausted.

Zoomies with zoomies. High-energy players get room to run hard, together.

Calm with calm. Seniors and mellow pups share a quieter crew with more rest.

Always being read. Pet-CPR-certified staff watch body language and rotate in rest before anyone tips past happy.

Meadow playtime

A real meadow beats a big room

This is why we're in the country: acres of fenced grass, wildflower edges made for sniffing, a splash pond, and enrichment courses that tire the brain as well as the legs. A tired dog isn't the goal — a fulfilled one is.

Room to really run. Open, fully fenced meadow — sprinting room no indoor gym can match.

Body and brain. Sniff trails, splash zone, and obstacle play rotate through the day.

Watch it live. Check the webcams anytime — and a photo report card lands before pick-up.

Rest & recharge

Rest is scheduled, not accidental

Adult dogs need 12+ hours of sleep a day — and an all-go, all-day daycare sends them home wired, not happy. Our day runs on a rhythm, like school: big play, then real rest in climate-controlled quiet rooms.

The Penny & Pals barn

Home base: the barn

Penny & Pals is a full indoor and outdoor facility. Sunny days are spent out in the meadows and play yards — and when Oregon does its rainy thing, the fun moves inside our climate-controlled play barn. Rain or shine, the tails keep wagging.

Built Around What Pet Parents Ask For

Peace of mind, from drop-off to pick-up

Surveys of dog owners show trust is the #1 reason families do — or don't — try daycare. Every one of these is a standard, not an add-on.

Live webcams

Check in on the play yard anytime from work or the beach. Transparency isn't a feature here — it's the default.

Trained, certified humans

Staff are trained in canine body language and pet CPR & first aid, and playgroups are supervised 100% of the time.

Small groups by temperament

Excitable, energetic dogs play together; older, calmer pups get their own mellow crew — grouped by temperament and exercise needs, not just size.

Daily photo report cards

Photos and a note about your dog's day, sent to your phone. Fridge-worthy.

Rest is part of play

Structured nap and quiet time prevents over-arousal — the thing most big-box daycares skip.

Vaccine-verified community

Rabies, DHPP, and Bordetella records are checked for every guest, every time. Healthy pack, happy pack.

Our Story

Named after Penny.
Built for your pals.

Penny & Pals started with a simple idea: dogs deserve a vacation too. While their families head to the coast or the airport, our guests head the other direction — out past the city limits, where the grass is long, the air smells like summer, and somebody's always up for a game of chase.

We're a family-owned, small-by-design facility in the Salem-Keizer countryside. Small playgroups instead of crowds. Names instead of numbers. Nap time instead of burnout. The kind of place we always wished existed for our own dogs — so we're building it.

Close enough for an easy drop-off on your way to work. Far enough that your dog comes home smelling like sunshine.

The Penny & Pals reception and lobby

Our reception & lobby — where every visit starts with a tail wag

Country by design

Space to run isn't a marketing line — it's the whole point. Play yards sized for sprinting, not circling.

Family owned & operated

The people who own it are the people in the yard. Your dog will know our names; we'll know theirs.

Small on purpose

We cap enrollment so every dog gets individual attention — the #1 thing pet parents say big facilities can't give.

Questions & Answers

Everything pet parents ask us

Straight answers, no fine print. Anything else — just ask.

What vaccines does my dog need for daycare?
Dogs must be current on Rabies, DHPP (Distemper/Parvo), and Bordetella. We verify records before the first visit to keep every playgroup healthy.
Does my dog need a temperament test before daycare?
Yes — and it's free. Every new pup starts with a meet-and-greet day so we can gauge their energy and exercise needs, then place them with dogs of similar temperament — energetic players together, calm seniors together.
Can I watch my dog during the day?
Yes. Enrolled families get live webcam access to the play yards, and every visit ends with a photo report card sent to your phone.
Are the dogs supervised at all times?
Always. Playgroups are 100% supervised by trained, pet-CPR-certified staff, and every day includes scheduled rest periods so dogs never get over-tired.
How big are the playgroups?
Eight to ten dogs, grouped by temperament and energy — excitable, energetic dogs together, older calmer dogs together — so every pup gets the right amount of exercise and rest.
What does boarding include?
Every night of boarding includes full daycare during the day, a private climate-controlled suite at night, an evening wind-down walk, and daily photo and video updates while you're away.
Do you offer grooming?
We keep it simple: dog washes (bath & brush) and nail trims at our on-site wash stations. Add either to any daycare day or boarding stay and your pup comes home fresh. We don’t offer haircuts or styling.
Where are you located?
We're setting up in the countryside just outside the Salem-Keizer area — minutes from the city, but a genuine change of scenery for your dog. Exact address announced when we open; join the waitlist to be first to know.
My dog is shy. Is daycare right for them?
Often, yes — with the right group. Shy dogs are placed with calm companions, and our solo enrichment add-on gives nervous pups one-on-one time while they build confidence at their own pace.
